Femap with NX Nastran
Overview
Siemens Femap with NX Nastran is a cost effective, high performance finite element analysis modeling tool for engineers. The software can create Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models of extremely complex engineering products and systems, and from these can determine the item’s behavioural response for a given operating environment.
No more costly prototyping, no more guesswork.
Femap allows you to:
-
Predict and improve product performance and reliability
-
Undertake stress analysis on project parts and materials
-
Reduce time-consuming and costly physical prototyping and testing
-
Evaluate different designs and materials

Modelling features
With Femap you can undertake:
-
Assembly Modeling, including contact detection that determines the components initially in contact
-
Beam Modeling and meshing where long, slender components can be represented by one-dimensional elements with associated properties making for less cumbersome models
-
Composite Modeling to create laminate models where you can update the laminate properties interactively.
Femap tips and tricks
Understand your model
Femap helps you understand how your model will behave by providing:
-
Contour and criteria plots
-
Deformed shape animations
-
Dynamic cutting plane and iso-surfaces
-
Full output selection
-
XY plots
-
Free body diagrams and grid point force balance output
-
Time and frequency domain animations.
Share your ideas with Femaps’ cross platform functionality
Femap can access the geometry data from all major CAD systems including CATIA, Pro/Engineer, NZ, Solid Edge, SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Once you import your model, you can identify potentially troublesome items such as slivers, and either remove them completely using the geometry cleanup tools, or suppress them.
The software is also solver-neutral, providing in-depth pre- and post-processing support for all of the main commercial solvers on the market, including NX Nastran, Ansys, LS-DYNA, Abaqus and TMG.
See how Femap with NX Nastran rapidly produces industrial-grade finite elements models to solve real engineering challenges. Understand why Femap’s combination of ease and user-control make it an excellent productivity choice – for new engineers and advanced analysts alike. This webinar is a great introduction to understanding why Femap with NX Nastran has such a strong and growing following amongst FEA users worldwide.
Enabling Simulation-Driven Design
Managing product performance is a crucial aspect of any product development project. Simulation offers a means to gaining insight into product performance at many points in your product development process.
By incorporating simulation during conceptual and detailed design, companies position themselves to produce end products that are lighter, faster, cheaper, and more differentiated than ever before. Companies must first, however, enable design engineers to conduct this analysis themselves in order to achieve such success.
